Peking University Memory - The 2003 Graduation Farewell Match
I am Zhu Anfeng. The text below was published by my college classmate Li Yu in the CS section of PKU's Weiming BBS on June 30, 2003. With sincere emotion, he recorded our farewell match at the end of undergraduate life.
I have kept it ever since, as a memorial to those green and youthful years:

Title: Never say goodbye -- to the brothers of the CS99 football team
Posted on: PKU Weiming BBS (Mon Jun 30 00:46:37 2003)
Anzi's precise pass flew through the gap between defenders. I brought the ball down steadily, faced the onrushing goalkeeper, nudged it lightly to the side, and Mei Qiaozhu, who had already been waiting there, pushed it into the net with ease. Cheers, a sprint, embraces. Everything felt so natural, just like it had for the past four years. Qiaozhu ran to the sideline, waving the blue-and-white jersey he had pulled off, revealing the striking red words on his white T-shirt: never say goodbye. Pig was always good at stirring emotions, especially at a moment when everyone was already sentimental. Around 9:15 a.m. on June 28, 2003, Mei Qiaozhu scored the first goal in the CS99 graduation memorial match.
The ground at the First Sports Field was still muddy after rain, but our passion was as bright as the morning sunlight. On that familiar dirt pitch, we and the junior Microelectronics 2000 team gave the spectators twelve goals in total. We laughed last, winning 7:5. Qiaozhu scored early for 1:0, but they quickly equalized. Then came almost the same move again: Anzi crossed, I flicked the ball past the marking defender, and Qiaozhu finished with ease. It was never going to be an easy game. They equalized again. Then the exceptionally fierce Qiaozhu struck once more with a sharp long-range shot that left the goalkeeper helpless. Soon after, Ouyang Tu, known for his delicate technique and dribbling, sent a lofted through ball. Anzi burst forward and slid in a finish: 4:2. Before halftime, they pulled one back and the first half ended 4:3.
First-half lineup: Liu Xuanzhe / Sun Xi, Yan Jing, Liu Yinghui, Yi Kai / Zheng Ran, Ying Fuchen, Ouyang Tu, Zhu Anfeng / Mei Qiaozhu, Li Yu
At the start of the second half, Wang Hong replaced the tiring Sun Xi, Sun Shibing came on for Liu Yinghui, and Lu Peng replaced Ying Fuchen as we switched to three forwards. Not long after, Qiaozhu squared the ball in the box and I slid in to make it 5:3. But the opponents fought back stubbornly and made it 5:5. Then Anzi broke down the flank and sent in an incredibly comfortable cross from the byline. I leapt, met it with a glancing header, and made it 6:5. Finally Kang Zhaoyang shook off two defenders and fired in a wonderful shot for 7:5. During the second half, Kang replaced Qiaozhu, Shan Jun replaced Lu Peng, Li Lijun replaced Ouyang Tu, Gao Chaohua replaced Sun Shibing, and Liu Lu replaced Yi Kai.
The final match of the 99 football team ended there. We were all about to go our separate ways. Perhaps the classmates who remained at school would never again see me, qquan, Mandheling, Hong mm, Anzi, and others appear together on the pitch. Perhaps we would never again have the chance to fight as a complete team. In the days to come, every chance to play football would probably feel precious to me. But everything we shared over those four years would remain an indelible memory: the small-sided league within the grade, the Freshman Cup, friendlies, football class, departmental league, the PKU Cup... We sweated together, enjoyed victory together, and tasted defeat together. We did not have professional standards or professional conditions. What we did have was a common love for football, and the brotherhood among us. I will never forget the footsteps we left on the First Field and Wusi Field, the vivid smiling faces shining with sweat in the sun, the beautiful passing combinations, the precious goals, the wild embraces, and the jersey we wore together...
There is no banquet that never ends, and our four years of football at university had finally come to an end. From the moment of parting onward, I would hold one lifelong dream: that one day our CS99 football team could gather again and enjoy our happy football once more.
Never say goodbye, my brothers. To have your friendship during those four university years leaves me with no regret and no remorse. I love you all, brothers.
